The town council launched a biodiversity competition in 2021 to encourage residents and schools to share their work to support and encourage greater biodiversity in Abingdon. A number of entries were received and prizes were awarded to the winners in May 2022.
The Mayor of Abingdon for 2021-22, Cllr Cheryl Briggs, awarded prizes to: Liz Bauer, Xiaowei Duan and Michael Turner for their personal gardens and to Sian Liwicki and David Mulholland for shared green spaces.
