The Mayor’s Awards were first instituted for the year 1995/96 by the Mayor, Cllr Dr Jim Halliday. They have been awarded at the Annual Meeting/ Mayor Making each year since then.
The Awards are presented to those who have given outstanding service to the community of Abingdon-on-Thames. A full list is detailed below.
Hilary Beale – for coordinating and managing Abingdon Food Bank and services to Girlguiding in Abingdon.
John Killick – for support for green projects.
Paul Shipman – for services to Scouting in Abingdon.
ATOM Festival – for promoting interest and education in science.
Rita Atkinson – for the invaluable role played by her within the community through Abingdon DAMASCUS and the Abingdon Integrated Youth Project.
Abingdon Carbon Cutters – for the invaluable role it plays within the community, encouraging and inspiring the public to reduce their carbon footprint.
